Hanging out in Phase 4 for awhile

in Blog

I’m LOVING Phase 4!   Sadly, I’m only here for a week until I start another round on Monday the 16th.  But while I’m here, I’m having a GOOD time!  During Phase 3 I stabilized surprisingly well.  There was one day where I was just at 2 lbs over LIW.  No  ”correction” days were needed.  I just avoided sugar and starches.  Some days I found myself under LIW by at least a pound.  Amazing!  I cannot stress enough the fact that you should get to know what YOUR body can and cannot handle in Phase 3 and in Phase 4.   For instance, I can use 1 tsp of agave syrup in my coffee every day in Phase 3 with no adverse effects.  Also, in the last week or so of Phase 3 I found that I could eat small servings of brown rice and whole grain high fiber bread.  The thing that I cannot tolerate is SUGAR–sweet drinks or desserts equal danger and weight gain for me.

Now I will say that I did weigh myself daily during Phase 3–just to check in to see if what I was doing was working.  I don’t think I’ll weigh on my next Phase 3, because I know what works.

The best part about Phase 4 is not having to think about what I can and can’t have.  I can pretty much eat anything and not see a noticeable difference on the scale–as long as I am eating according to hunger.  I also realized that just because I can have sugar, it’s not something I really feel like eating.  And the one time when I did eat mindlessly and far beyond a 5 or 6 on the hunger scale–I felt AWFUL.  I was sick all night.   It was such a horrible feeling, I’m careful not to do that again.

As you know, timing is everything in the hCG protocol.  During this Phase 4 I’ve had Easter, a celebratory lunch with my hubby (he got a new job–yeah!), lunch with my bestie before she moves out of town, and dinner at a fabulous restaurant this coming Saturday with my hubby to celebrate 20 years of marriage.  After that–the appetite’s on lock-down for 21 days.  Piece of cake!
